The first step in the process of turning into a professional is to have finished high school. So make sure you have your diploma at hand when you choose a university. 

Secondly, and most importantly, you need a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. There are a lot of universities in the country that offer you the possibility to get this qualification, you just have to choose where you want to get it. This step takes at least 4 years to complete if you do it full-time. An undergraduate degree in computer science will prepare you with the foundations of programming, coding, operating systems, algorithms, and more. 

You must learn coding in depth if you want to become a computer scientist. Here, you will acquire knowledge about coding and the different programming and computing languages that exist. Actually, if you learn a little bit of coding, you have more chances of getting a job related to your degree, although it is not compulsory to be an expert. 

The next step is to earn a Master's in Computer Science or Computer Engineering once you have your Bachelor’s degree. With a Master’s, you will acquire advanced knowledge on different topics that will lead you to be a step closer to being a professional. Alternatively, if you have a Bachelor’s degree in another field, you can also get a Master's in Computer Science. 

The last step in the process of becoming a computer scientist is to find a job related to your qualifications. As you will be prepared and full of knowledge, it will be easier for you to find a job as a computer scientist. If you are not able to find a job as a computer scientist, you can look for similar jobs, such as a software developer.
