Finance is the study of the optimal allocation (procurement, deployment, and distribution) of scarce financial resources. Whoever controls the financial capital within an economy has the power to determine what products or services ultimately come to fruition, and which companies succeed or fail.
Finance Majors learn a broad set of analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for one of the broadest career opportunity spectrums, including: commercial banking, consulting, corporate finance, investment banking, mergers & acquisitions advisement, portfolio management (e.g. hedge funds), private equity, private wealth management, real estate, research, securities or commodity trading, venture capital, etc.
