College of the Mainland

College of the Mainland (COM) is a public community college located in Texas City, Texas. Its name comes from its location on the "mainland" portion of Galveston County, Texas which is the north portion of Galveston Island. 

In addition to traditional community college transfer classes, the college provides vocational programs and continuing education courses. For example, the college provides programs for students pursuing careers in nursing and business. The college also offers a process technology degree for those who seek employment as operators in refineries or other petroleum-related plants. 

College of the Mainland is a learning-centered, comprehensive community college dedicated to student success and the intellectual and economic prosperity of the diverse communities it serves. COM is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate degrees and certificates.
