Columbia University has cancelled classes for two days before Spring Break because of coronavirus COVID-19 concerns.

Columbia University cancelled classes for two days this week because a person at the school is under quarantine from coronavirus exposure. This was just announced by the university’s president via email.

“I am writing this evening to notify everyone that, because a member of our community has been quarantined as a result of exposure to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have decided to suspend classes on Monday and Tuesday,” Columbia’s president, Lee Bollinger, wrote in an email.

They did not say if it was a student or a school employee. Mr.Bollinger stated that the individual under quarantine has not yet been diagnosed with coronavirus.

“This action is intended to prevent the virus from spreading,”
the president said.
