The Harvard School of Dental Medicine announces a new 2-year specialty program leading to a MMSc in Dental Education. It is designed to train leaders who can drive change to meet the advances in dental education by preparing them to design curricula and motivate students and faculty. The faculty and curriculum of the MMSc in Dental Education program are committed to develop educational leaders to shape the future of dental education.  The MMSc in Dental Education Program is open to applicants who have completed or are expecting to complete a professional degree such as, but not limited to, DMD/DDS. 

The academic program for the Harvard MMSc Program in Dental Education is based on related scientific evidence applied to educational quality, educational research, curriculum design and academic leadership. The objective of the Harvard MMSc Program in Dental Education is to enable highly motivated individuals with proven scholarship and excellence in research and leadership to become strong academic leaders in curriculum design and mentorship of students and faculty. The program is composed of the following modules:

  • Dental Education Research
  • Evidence-Based Teaching (in conjunction with the Harvard Macy Institute at Harvard Medical School)
  • Curriculum Design
  • Academic Leadership Skills (in conjunction with the Harvard Macy Institute)
  • Research Project based on student interests
  • Elective Courses based on student interests
Electives may be taken at any of the Harvard Schools (e.g. Business, Education, Government, Public Health).
