What is the NECHE?
The New England Commission of Higher Education is a regional accreditation agency for colleges and universities in six New England states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.The Commission consists of faculty, administrators and trustees from affiliated institutions and public members and it is regarded by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a reliable authority on the quality of education for all institutions that it accredits. NECHE is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) which affirms that its standards are consistent with the quality, improvement and accountability expectations that CHEA has established.
