Description

The Animal Sciences undergraduate program offers students professional training designed to prepare students for careers in animal agriculture, animal agribusiness, animal health and allied industries, equine science, veterinary technology, and related fields.

The undergraduate curriculum emphasizes the application of biological and physical principles as well as the social sciences associated with animal agribusiness. Majors as well as minors are available in Animal Science, Equine Science, and Veterinary Technology.

The Animal Science major is designed to prepare students for careers in Animal Agribusiness and related fields. Course work includes biological principles, scientific relationships, management practices, marketing, and business concepts applicable to animal products, and livestock production systems.

Areas of Concentration

Five options are available: Animal Biomedical ScienceAnimal Agribusiness, Livestock Media and Meat Science. Each is designed to strengthen career preparation.

Animal Biomedical Science - This option offers students a more scientific approach to animal science, preparing them for veterinary medicine, graduate research in animal science, teaching, food technology and the biotechnology industry. Students may receive an animal sciences degree while meeting academic requirements for veterinary school.
