Master of Arts in Linguistics

The Master of Arts in Linguistics in Language and Culture Studies is offered by University of Southern California.

The Linguistics department does not accept applicants for a Master of Arts degree. Students who complete the necessary coursework and write and successfully defend a screening research paper will automatically be awarded an MA in Linguistics as part of the PhD program.

Students pursuing the PhD program in linguistics are required to complete 32 units of course work toward the MA degree. The choice of courses is subject to approval by the Graduate Studies Committee. In addition, students must satisfy one foreign language or research tool requirement.
